Events
The timeline of what happened to each service, and where to act on it.
The Events page is a timeline of what happened to one service, newest first.
Web services, workers, cron jobs, databases, key value stores, storage services, volumes, load balancers and the firewall each have one. Each entry shows a status label, what happened and when, for example 12m ago. Hover over the time to see the exact date.
The page refreshes on its own while something is in progress.
Web services
A web service's events cover its builds, deploys, restarts, rollbacks, suspensions and custom domains. You can also act on deploys here:
- Cancel a build that's running.
- Manual deploy, on the version that's live, builds and deploys the latest commit again.
- Rollback, on an earlier version that was live, puts that version back.
- Deploy, on a failed deploy, deploys the latest commit, for example after you push a fix.
See Deploys.
Other services
For the other kinds, events cover setup, changes in size or settings, restarts and failures. For example:
- a database warning when it reaches 90% of its storage allowance
- a database becoming read-only when its storage is full, and accepting writes again
- a worker crashing, with the reason
- a cron job run failing
When something fails, the entry is marked Failed and gives the reason in plain language.
Cancel setup
While a database, key value store, storage service, worker or cron job is still being created, the newest entry on its Events page has a Cancel button. Cancelling deletes it.
Retry
When a database, key value store, storage service, worker or cron job has failed, the newest entry has a Retry button to try again.
Memory short
When a machine runs short of memory, the service using the most beyond its guarantee restarts first. Its Events page shows an amber Memory short entry, which says the service restarted because its machine ran short of memory. The service isn't marked as crashed. If it happens often, give the service more guaranteed memory. See Memory and sizing.
Events and notifications
Many events also appear under the bell. See Notifications.
